Chamolia

Between the timelessly popular shores of Loutsa and those of Porto Rafti, there is a beach that is perhaps the most special beach in Attica. It's not just the turquoise waters of the sea. It's mainly the natural environment and the zigzags of the coast that evoke an exotic island. It is a small cove with sand and pebbles. While you are swimming, you will have a view of the opposite coast and the hills of Vravrona, a special landscape that you would hardly imagine you could see in Attica.

vravrona

Vravrona is an important archaeological site in Attica, known for the temple of Artemis, which has given its name to the modern municipality of eastern Attica, as well as to the neighboring coastal settlement of Loutsa (present-day name Artemis). It was built in a cove on the coast of the South Euboean Gulf, near the present-day settlement of Loutsa. It was first inhabited in the Neolithic era. In the time of Theseus (Bronze Age), Vravrona was one of the 20 municipalities that united and formed the later Athenian state. Gradually, Vravrona evolved into a place of worship of Artemis and a temple dedicated to her was built. Today, in the area of Vravrona, there is a modern small seaside settlement. The current settlement of Vravrona has 41 residents, according to the 2001 census. It has some taverns and other shops near the beach of Vravrona, which receives many visitors during the summer season. Vravrona and its coastal marine zone are a protected Natura 2000 habitat, with code GR3000004, covering an area of 27.12 sq.km.
